  1. a British pop group from Manchester, active from 1991 to 2009. The best-known members were Noel and Liam Gallagher, two brothers who often argued with each other. Liam was the band's singer, and Noel wrote songs and played the guitar. The group was known for its bad behaviour, often related to drugs and alcohol, but its records have been extremely successful. They include the albums Definitely Maybe (1994), (What's the Story) Morning Glory?(1995), Be Here Now (1997) and Heathen Chemistry (2002) and the songs Live Forever, Cigarettes and Alcohol and Wonderwall.
