  1. a film character created and played by Sylvester Stallone. He wrote and acted in six successful films about Rocky Balboa, a boxer who succeeds in dealing with many difficulties to finally defeat strong opponents. The first, Rocky (1976), made him famous and won two Oscars. Stallone himself directed Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky IV (1985), Rocky V (1990) and Rocky Balboa (2006).
